Transgender women undergo a procedure known as vaginoplasty, the reconstruction of a new vaginal canal (neovagina) with penile and scrotal tissue or skin grafts to form female external and internal genitalia and a phallus. It usually involves the excision of the penis and testicles, molding of the tissues to a vulva and clitoris, and creation of a working vaginal canal, usually including depth allowing sexual intercourse.
This procedure was successfully carried out on Anaya Bangar, who is a trans-rights advocate, a former male cricketer (under the name Aryan Bangar), and the daughter of a former India coach called Sanjay Bangar, in Bangkok, Thailand, in March 2026. She had a skin graft vaginoplasty done at an advanced clinic; she employed the same as other Indian trans women such as Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju and Saisha Shinde.
Anaya posted on Instagram that the surgery was successful and she had no complications but felt discomfort and pain as expected, which was to resolve in 1-2 weeks after the surgery. She focused on slow recovery, the dilation process to ensure depth, and family maintenance (such as complete financial support by her father). The achievement has been a motivating milestone to the trans community, as it has proven that quality care is available outside the US and psychological preparation beforehand and post-care are essential to better results.
