Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has reflected on the nearly decade-long ban that kept him away from India’s music industry. In a recent interview, the “Aadat” hitmaker said, “I don’t miss working over there, but I miss you guys,” addressing his Indian fans.
He noted that restrictions imposed around 2016 prevented Pakistani artists from working in India, with a reciprocal ban in Pakistan. Despite this, Aslam revealed fans still access his music via VPNs and shared CDs.
Surprisingly, he expressed gratitude: “I thank those who have banned me as well, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to explore myself.” He explained that the absence from Bollywood playback singing pushed him to create original music and grow as an independent artist.
Aslam urged fans not to feel sad, emphasizing that true music lovers will always find a way to connect with his work. The comments have sparked widespread discussion among his cross-border admirers.
