Bollywood actor Govinda has issued a public legal notice warning against the circulation of false, defamatory and unverified reports about his personal and family life. The notice specifically targets claims of a secret or court marriage with actress Komal Rani (also known as Rani Swarnkar).
Issued amid ongoing speculation involving his wife Sunita Ahuja, the warning cautions media organisations, digital platforms, content creators and social media users against publishing or sharing fabricated material, including deepfakes and AI-generated content. Govinda’s team stated that civil and criminal proceedings may be initiated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act, with damages of up to Rs 100 crore sought.
The notice further indicates that court orders could be pursued to freeze bank accounts, restrict property transactions or seize passports of those found responsible. This comes after Sunita Ahuja’s recent public comments and the withdrawal of her divorce petition. Govinda’s manager has denied any second marriage plans.
