On 5 October 2026, actor Rakul Preet Singh issued a statement. She said the income tax search being discussed was not about her.
She said she does not hold benami property for anyone in India or abroad. She also said she has no role in any illegal foreign money transfer, either on her own or for a production house. She said she has been paying tax since she was 20.
Earlier reports said searches took place in Mumbai on 28 September at some addresses linked to the film business. Rakul called those reports false and unverified, and asked the outlets that ran them to correct the record.
