Director Nitesh Tiwari has confirmed the appearance of Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor in a dual role in the much-anticipated epic Ramayana. The actor, playing the role of Lord Rama, will also depict another of the previous guises of the Lord Vishnu, which is Lord Parshuram.
In an interview with Collider at the teaser launch in Los Angeles, Ranbir remarked, “It was amazing to have the chance to act as Lord Rama and also as Lord Parshuram, who is one of the various avatars of Lord Vishnu."
Lord Rama was portrayed by Ranbir, and the initial preview titled "Rama" was published on April 2, 2026, showcasing him as a mighty warrior and king. Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, and Sunny Deol also take part in the film with the roles of Ravana, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman, respectively. Music is by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
The first part of Ramayana is scheduled to be released on the grand Diwali of 2026. Moviegoers are eagerly anticipating how Ranbir will portray two divine characters on the big screen.
