On Thursday, India has registered 31,923 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total caseload of the disease to 33,563,421, as per the data updated by the Union health ministry. In the last 24 hours, 282 patients have died and 31,990 have recovered from the viral disease, pushing the cumulative count of deaths and recoveries to 446,050 and 32,815,731 respectively. Currently, the active cases in the country stand at 3,01,640.
The active cases comprise 0.90% of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.77%, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the United States authorized the use of boosters of Pfizer's vaccine against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for people aged over 65, people at high-risk of severe disease and those in high-exposure settings to the virus.
