On Thursday, August 18, India reported more than 12,000 fresh cases in the last 24 hours. The country logged 12,608 fresh cases along with 72 fresh fatalities and 16,251 people recovering from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health Ministry.
With this, the overall caseload of Covid-19 infections in the country currently stands at 4,42,98,864, and the death toll has climbed to 5,27,206, said the data.

Comprising 0.23 percent of the total infections, the active caseload currently stands at 1,01,343, the ministry said. The daily positivity rate and the weekly positivity rate currently stand at 3.48 percent and 4.20 percent respectively, as per the data update.

Delhi
On Wednesday, the national capital logged 1,652 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 8 people succumbing to the deadly viral infection. The positivity rate in the city currently stands at 9.92 percent, as per the data updated by the State health department.
Mumbai
On Wednesday, Mumbai reported 975 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 2 people succumbing to the virus, as per the State health officials. With this, the overall caseload of Covid-19 infections in the city has climbed to 11,34,479, and the death toll has reached 19,668, said the officials.
