On Thursday, India has recorded 961 fresh cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 across 22 states and UTs so far out of which 320 people have recovered or migrated, as per the Union Health Ministry data update. Total 13,154 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the health ministry.
India's tally of COVID-19 cases has climbed to 3,48,22,040, whereas the active cases increased to 82,402, as per the data. The number of deaths climbed to 4,80,860 with 268 fresh fatalities, the data stated.
As per the health ministry, active cases in India has risen to 82,402, with an increase of 5,400 such cases. The daily Covid cases in India has seen a rise of over 40% in a single day.
As many as 961 people have recovered from the Omicron variant so far in the country, said the data.
As reported by PTI, Goa has issued an order allowing casinos to operate with 50 pc capacity with entry restricted to fully vaccinated people or those carrying negative RT-PCR test report, similar curbs and conditions put at some other establishments, including cinema halls and entertainment parks.
Delhi has recorded the maximum number of 263 Omicron cases followed by Maharashtra at 257, Gujarat 97, Rajasthan 69 and Kerala 65. Besides, 923 fresh Covid-19 cases have been registered in the past 24 hours.
Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai starting from today till January 7, 2022, in view of rising Covid cases.
