India has reported  2,71,202 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours on Sunday morning, as per the data updated by Union Health Ministry. The country has also recorded 314 Covid-19 related fatalities in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to reach 4,86,066. 1,38,331 people have recovered from the infection and the number of active cases now stands at 15,50,377. A total of 7,743 omicron cases have also been detected across the country so far, said the ministry on Sunday. 

Odisha 

On Sunday, Odisha has registered 11,177 fresh Covid-19 cases, with the tally rising to 11,33,912, said a health department bulletin. The daily infections crossed the 11,000-mark for the first time since May 26 last year. The death toll has mounted to 8,481 as three more persons died due to the disease in the last 24 hours, the bulletin said. 

Delhi 

On Sunday evening, Delhi has reported 18,286 fresh Covid-19 cases, which is 13 per cent lower than yesterday's number (20,718) and a positivity rate of 27.87 per cent, according to health department data. The national capital also reported 28 Covid deaths. The active Covid caseload in the city stands at 89,819. 

Maharashtra 

On Sunday, Mumbai has reported 7,895 fresh Covid-19 cases, with 11 people died due to Covid-19 infection, the city civic body said in a bulletin. The caseload in Mumbai now stands at 9,99,862 and the death count has reached to 16,457, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a release.
