On Friday, India has reported 8,503 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, said the health ministry. With fresh cases, India's active caseload currently stands at 94,943. The health ministry said that the total number of 65,32,43,539 samples are tested up to 9th December. Including 12,93,412 samples tested on 9th December.
International Flights suspended
As new Covid-19 variant, Omicron is spreading rapidly the government has decided to push back the resumption of scheduled international flights. The international flights will now remain suspended till January 31, 2022, said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a circular on Thursday.
Omicron cases in UK
On Thursday, after a further 249 cases were confirmed the number of cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Britain has nearly doubled in one day. With this, the total Omicron cases in UK has reached to 817. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said, "if the growth rate and doubling time continue at the rate seen in the last two weeks, they expect to see at least 50 per cent of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases to be caused by Omicron variant in the next two to four weeks."
Subject Expert Committee to conduct a meeting
On Monday, the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) will conduct a meeting regarding the need for administering booster doses amid the Omicron variant scare.
