On Wednesday, India has reported 9,283 fresh Covid-19 cases and 437 fresh fatalities in last 24 hours, as per the data updated by Union Health Ministry. The death toll has climbed to 4,66,584 with 437 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am. 10,949 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours pushing the caseload of total recoveries to 3,39,57,698.
The active cases stood at 1,11,481, comprising 1 per cent of the total count, which is the lowest since March 2020. The recovery rate stood at 98.33 per cent, the highest since then. Meanwhile, two doses of Covaxin are 50 per cent effective against symptomatic disease, according to the first real-world assessment of India's indigenous Covid-19 vaccine published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal.
Over 11 lakh samples were tested for Covid-19 across the country in the last 24 hours, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed on Wednesday. The total samples tested for Covid-19 in the country so far stands at 63,47,74,225.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said, "As many as 11,57,697 samples were tested yesterday." 118.44 Crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
