On Thursday, India's caseload of the Covid-19 infections has reached 32,322,258. 36,401 fresh cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry's update. However, 530 death cases and 39,157 recovered cases due to infection were recorded in the said period. The cumulative count of death and recoveries now stands at 4,33,049 and 31,525,080 respectively. The active cases have fell down to 364,129 which is the lowest in 149 days. Caseload of active cases in the country came down to 3.64 lakh.

On Wednesday, Kerala reported 21,427 new Covid-19 cases and 179 deaths, according to the state government’s data, taking the infection count to 7,25,005. 

By Wednesday, approx. 565 million Covid vaccine doses were administered in the country. Meanwhile, Priya Abraham, director of the National Institute of Virology said, "vaccines for children may be available by September and the trials for inoculating those between 2 and 18 years are underway."

In a statement, India's top health officials stated, "The available data make very clear that protection against (coronavirus) infection begins to decrease over time following the initial doses of vaccination, and in association with the dominance of the Delta variant we are starting to see evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease."
