On Wednesday, India has recorded 42,625 fresh Covid-19 cases along with 522 new deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the data released by the Health Ministry. Kerala reports 23,680 new cases, Maharashtra reports around 6,000 cases while Tamil Nadu around 1900. Kerala reports highest new cases in the last 68 days.

Kerala accounts for 55.5% of new cases and 42.3% of India's total active caseload. As per the data, total caseload in the country stands at 3,17,69,132 along with total discharges at 3,09,33,022. Death toll has reached 4,25,757 and active caseload is at 4,10,353. Apart from this, total vaccination administered has reached 48,52,86,570 (62,53,741 in last 24 hours).

“As communicated by the manufacturers, the monthly vaccine production capacity of Covishield is projected to be increased from 110 million doses per month to more than 120 million doses per month and the production capacity of Covaxin is projected to be increased from 25 million doses per month to around 58 million doses per month,” Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated in a written reply. 

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 18,47,518 sample tests were done for corona virus in India yesterday, till yesterday a total of 47,31,42,307 sample tests have been done.
