43,654 fresh cases of corona infection have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, while 640 patients lost their lives during this period. Now the total number of infected patients in the country has increased to 3,14,84,605, according to data updated by Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 3,06,63,147, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.34 per cent, it said. 

On Tuesday, 17,36,857 Covid-19 tests were conducted, taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 46,09,00,978, the data reported. 

The top five states to report maximum cases are Kerala with 22,129 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 6,258 cases, Mizoram with 1,845 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,767 cases and Odisha with 1,629 cases.
