Numerous common food combinations that we indulge in unknowingly damage digestion, which Ayurveda and nutritionists testify to. These incompatible mixtures slow down the digestion process, form toxins, cause bloating, produce gases, and even lead to skin problems in the long run.
The best combinations not to be used are the following:
- Milk and bananas or any fruit (in particular, sour ones such as oranges and pineapples) results in curdling and weightiness.
- Milk or curd and fish/meat: counteracting properties from toxins and digestive problems.
- Honey with hot water or an equal amount of ghee becomes poisonous as soon as it is heated.
- Melons and any other food or dairy—melons digest too fast, and thus they ferment.
- Fruits during a meal or grain fruits, preferably alone.
- Combined with protein and starch (such as meat with rice or eggs with bread), it slows down the process of digestion considerably.
It is confirmed by modern science that an incompatible rate of digestion and pH conditions result in an insufficient absorption of nutrients and stomach complaints. Such basic modifications as either consuming fruits individually or alternating dairy products with proteins will enhance energy and health exponentially. Heed your gut and make intentional selections that will enhance your health.
