Bengali actress Aindrila Sharma passes away at the age of 24 after suffering cardiac arrest

Bengali actor Aindrila Sharma, 24, who defeated cancer twice, passed away on Sunday. She was admitted to a hospital in Howrah, West Bengal after suffering a brain stroke on November 1.

Bengali actor Aindrila Sharma, 24, who defeated cancer twice, passed away on Sunday. She was admitted to a hospital in Howrah, West Bengal after suffering a brain stroke on November 1. After 20 days in the hospital, Sharma finally breathed her last on Sunday at 12:59 pm. She suffered multiple heart attacks on Saturday night.

Diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in 2015, she underwent chemotherapy in Delhi and returned home after defeating the disease in 2016. Sharma was again diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her right lung in 2021. She was recently declared cancer-free and made her acting comeback.

The actress was hospitalised on November 1 after suffering a brain stroke. She suffered from an intracranial haemorrhage and underwent left front temporoparietal de-compressive craniotomy surgery. According to hospital sources, she passed away at 12:59 pm.

She underwent critical surgery, and a biopsy showed that she was having brain metastases. She was treated by a team of a neurosurgeon, neurologist, critical care specialist, infectious disease specialist, medical oncologist, and radiation oncologist," the hospital said, according to NDTV.

Aindrila Sharma was a part of several Bengali television shows like Jiyon Kathi, Jiban Jyoti, and Mahapeeth Tarapeeth. Aindrila had been awarded the Tele Samman Award in the ‘Outstanding Comeback’ category by the West Bengal government this year. The actor was dating actor Sabyasachi Chowdhury. He was a constant source of strength for Sharma besides her family members.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, paid an emotional tribute to Aindrila. Banerjee tweeted: ''Deeply saddened at the untimely demise of our young artiste Aindrila Sharma. Thousands of fans and well-wishers had been praying for her recovery on social media, too, for the last few days. Condolences have started pouring in for the actor from all sections of society.

In the past, the number of persons dying from heart attacks and cardiac arrests has increased. Notably, renowned TV actor Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi died on November 11. The actor fainted at the gym while working out. Puneeth Rajkumar, a prominent Kannada actor, died on October 29, 2021, in Bengaluru, from a major heart attack. Similarly, on September 2, 2021, television star Sidharth Shukla died of a heart attack in Mumbai.
