This has garnered a lot of attention in Bengaluru after a video of an ordinary vegetable seller being seen peddling vegetables while wearing a high-tech data collection machine strapped to his head was posted on the internet. The cutscene was extensively posted on Instagram of a local market vendor using what would seem like an iPhone and sensors on a headpiece to interact with clients.

Vaibhav says that the vendor is gathering real data, visual information, audio information, and spatial information to train the AI models that they use that are primarily concerned with robotics or computer vision. The special side job—he is allegedly getting paid Rs 350/hour for this in-demand job, and if he works regularly, he can earn more than Rs 1 lakh per month.

The strange sighting has been generating online discussions over the future of work, the gig economy, and their access to AI by the common people of India. Some people sing the praises that it's a new avenue for additional income, while others have concerns about privacy and ethics regarding the data. The story is a demonstration of the surprising roles being played by technology in the changing face of traditional livelihoods in India.
