The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been hit with an unprecedented wave of cyberattacks after its re-evaluation and verification system was launched for class X and XII students on June 2, 2026. Just after the launch of its gate for students in Classes 10 and 12, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) re-evaluation cum verification (re-verification) system was targeted with a huge amount of cyberattacks on June 2, 2026. The latest was a denial-of-service (DoS) attack in which 1.5 million hits battered the portal in only two minutes, said the board. Also, more than one lakh accesses into unauthorized files were attempted.

In the face of the enormous threat, CBSE said its technical team, with the aid of “thickening” security arrangements, managed to protect the platform. It is reported that more than 16,000 students were able to successfully place their re-evaluation applications within the first couple of hours. The board also stated that there was no eventual breach of the students' data and advised applicants to be careful when accessing the portal.

This incident has raised concerns about the security of critical infrastructure during high traffic periods as well as following board results. CBSE is seeking to further strengthen the seamless access system.
