As of May 1, 2026, there were no changes in retail prices of petrol or diesel products in major cities. In Delhi, petrol is ₹94.77/liter and diesel ₹87.67/liter. Stability of this nature was also observed in Mumbai, Chennai, and other metros, even with the extreme global crude prices.
We saw an upsurge in commercial LPG (commercial = 3 x 19 kg cylinders) by 993 per cylinder (Delhi new fare = 3,071.50). The 5 kg cylinder of free trade LPG was also added with an increment of 261.50.
The price of domestic household LPG (14.2 kg) and public distribution system kerosene remained stable, which was a relief to the households. Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) was also not revised related to domestic usage.
The oil companies and the government used global trends as a reason to bring about the commercial LPG adjustment but cushioned retail consumers. The increase in expense can be imposed on such businesses as restaurants and hotels. Further increases in petrol/diesel are not confirmed yet but could be made in the future. The consumers are requested to consult the official sources of IOC/BPCL/HPCL to obtain the latest rates.
