The woman at the centre of the viral “We are Gen Z” video from a Ladakh checkpoint has claimed she received death threats and was forced to leave her home.

Speaking to media, the 25-year-old tourist said she was “extremely scared” after the video of her confronting security personnel over a road restriction went viral. She alleged that media personnel forcibly entered her building and that the online backlash included threats, prompting her to stay at a friend’s place.

The original incident occurred near the Minimarg check post in Kargil, where tourists were held up for hours due to VIP movement linked to Kargil Vijay Diwas. In the video, she declared “We are Gen Z” and criticised the delay, also making remarks about taxes paying soldiers’ salaries.

She has since apologised to the Indian Army, J&K Police and Ladakh Police, stating she spoke in frustration without knowing the area’s sensitivity and never intended to disrespect the forces. The episode has sparked wider debate on online outrage and respect for security protocols in border regions.
