The skyline in Dubai became out of control on March 7-8, 2026, when the 23 Marina Tower, the popular 90-story skyscraper in the busy Marina area, was struck in the context of the ongoing drone and missile war launched by Iran. The viral videos on social media depict thick black smoke and flames jumping out of high-rise buildings and people running out of the premises in a panic as emergency services arrived at the site.
The government, through the Dubai Media office, explained that the debris of an intercepted Iranian projectile fell on the exterior of a structure that had partial damage and a short-lived fire that was suppressed. There were no casualties in the tower building, but also a Pakistani taxi driver was killed tragically by falling debris. It was a dramatic intensification of the event when Iran had been targeted by the Gulf states, such as the UAE, as a payback to earlier US-Israel attacks.
Eyewitness videos show explosions, screams, and smoke observable all over the areas, which increases the fears as the regional war moves to other roaming places other than conventional battlefields. Dubai Airport was the victim in the recent past, raising the world's concerns over stability in aviation and oil. Investigations continue.
