In an atrocious broad-daylight murder that has shaken Karnataka, a man is claimed to have killed his 28-year-old wife by slitting her throat using a sharp object and then blowing her up using his car over her body near the Balurgi village in Afzalpur taluq of the Kalaburagi district sometime on March 26.

The victim, Shaila (who was also known as Saheli or Saanvi in other reports), and her husband, Akshay (also known as Akshaya Jadhav), were heading to the pilgrimage center of Ganagapura/Deval Ganagapur in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. This was after four years of marriage between the couple.

It is alleged that Akshay pulled the car to the road, where he pushed his wife out of the vehicle, raped her, and cut her throat in the middle of the road. He subsequently drove the SUV all over her body and then left the area. Locally filmed videos of the gruesome event have spread on social media featuring spectators standing in amazement.

Kalaburagi police have apprehended Akshay. Also, initial inquiries include a quarrel among family members, some of them noting a suspicion of an external affair with the opposite sex. The parents of the accused reportedly were in the vehicle at the time of incidence. A killing case is registered, and investigation is still on.
