In an irreplaceably provocative stunt, Tehran's Hamshahri newspaper released a graphic "revenge list" with 13 prominent world leaders in prison attire or with sniper crosshairs. The targets are US President Donald Trump, UK's Keir Starmer, France's Emmanuel Macron, Italy's Giorgia Meloni, Germany's Friedrich Merz and several high-ranking officials in the US and Israel.

The infographic is an accompaniment to remarks made by Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei that "revenge is certain" for the US-Israeli strike that killed his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Leaders in orange jumpsuits are seen in images calling for retribution, amid current tensions in the Middle East.

The list is not necessarily representative of the official Iranian government policy, but it has been used to highlight and fuel concerns among Iran's international counterparts—particularly those in the West—which are generally characterized by their hardline rhetoric. As diplomacy scurries to defuse the situation, analysts say such publications may be fueling the fire that can lead to more instability. It is developed as Iran keeps asserting that it will seek revenge for the late supreme leader.
