Iranian authorities have accused a US airstrike on a Mahan Air aircraft, which was scheduled to fly to New Delhi to collect medicines and other humanitarian aids donated by Indians, of damaging the plane.
The aircraft, which is a private Iranian airline, was reportedly preparing to depart from Mashhad Airport on a humanitarian mission to collect essential medical supplies and other humanitarian aid procured in India, which includes donations from Indians for civilians in Iran.
The aircraft was reportedly scheduled to depart for New Delhi on April 1, 2026, carrying over 11 tons of medicines back to Iran.
The US authorities have yet not made any confirmation or given any comments regarding this case. This incident has occurred at a very crucial time in West Asia; therefore, there is a threat of compromise in air operations security. India has adopted a neutral role in this incident by helping Iran in a humanitarian role. The condition of the plane and the potential loss of lives are yet unknown.
