India has the potential to be a huge market for the social media marketing platform, and joining this platform gives rise to many serious comments, one of which was a remark by Kunal Shah—'India Wasting Time on Short Videos.'
Within a few weeks of warning Indians about spending too much time on them on their own short-form videos and Reels, CRED's founder Kunal Shah has now become the global head of WhatsApp at Meta. “A lot of the gigantic mobile data usage in India doesn't get used for creating any good stuff—it is for entertainment purposes,” he said at the India Investor Festival.
The discussion and memes are going all around the internet in Shah's move to Meta, the owner of Instagram, the social media giant, which is the backbone of much of the phenomenon of Reels. The hiring follows Meta's $900-million investment in CRED.
During his previous address, Shah highlighted the importance of using devices in the right manner during the age of artificial intelligence and how they have the power to be "very intelligent or very silly.
With a newly established leadership position at one of the world's biggest social networking platforms, many are eager to see if Shah's take on content consumption will also impact product decisions for WhatsApp and Meta in the future. The entrepreneur continues to be a prominent voice in India’s tech ecosystem.
