The Maharashtra government has introduced emergency helpline numbers as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intense to very heavy rain till 6th July in various parts of the state.

In Mumbai, Pune, Konkan, and Western Maharashtra, waterlogging and flooding are likely to occur in the low-lying areas. The administration has appealed to the people to be aware and not indulge in any nonessential travel, particularly in areas with a topography susceptible to landslides.

The government has issued a number of key helpline numbers, such as the helpline for the State Disaster Management, Fire Brigade, and local Police Control Rooms. The authorities have recommended that encounters with emergencies be reported promptly to ensure prompt response to them.

It also advises citizens to closely monitor weather updates and avoid going outdoors during periods of heavy weather. Precautionary school/class closures have been announced in many districts. Police have warned of heightened risk of violence during this critical period of the monsoon.
