In a major achievement, Nagpur Police arrested Maulana Hazrat (or Hazrat Maulana), who is the third accused in the shocking case of an Indian Air Force officer's wife who claimed she was drugged, repeatedly raped, blackmailed with pornographic videos, extorted more than ₹3 lakh, and converted to Islam.

It was the 24-year-old woman, a property dealer, who accused her former classmate Ayyaz Taj Madare and his associate Ameen Shaikh of the crimes. Madare and Shaikh were earlier arrested. The victim reported that she was taken to Kalmeshwar, where Hazrat Maulana allegedly performed rituals, forced her to recite the "Kalma," and say “Qubool Hai,” declaring her converted and “married” to Madare, without her consent.

The video was viral footage that included the woman begging, “Let me go," as she was being held and chanted at. The police have invoked the rape, extortion, blackmail, and anti-superstition and anti-black magic provisions of the Maharashtra state laws. There has been a huge outrage among the people regarding the issue of women's safety and forced conversion.
