The number of prestigious international awards received by the Indian Prime Minister is more than any other Prime Minister in India's history, and as of May 2026, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has received over 30 patriarchal nomination awards from various countries.

Some of the most notable awards include:

  • Order of Zayed (UAE, 2019) – Highest civilian honour of UAE
  • Order of King Abdulaziz (Saudi Arabia, 2016) – Highest Civilian Award
  • The Legion d’Honneur, Grand Cross (France, 2023)—the highest decoration of France.
  • The highest civilian decoration in Russia is the Order of St. Andrew.
  • Legion of Merit (USA, 2020)
  • Order of the Indian Ocean (India/Tanzania)
  • Condecorations: Commander (CC Order of the Polar Star, Sweden) / Grand Commander (GO Order of the Polar Star, Sweden)
  • The Name in Israel Medal of the Speaker of the Knesset will be awarded to the recipient in 2026.
  • Namibia, Brazil, Ghana, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Oman, Ethiopia—and much more—all bestowed the highest honors.

These awards honor PM Modi's work in roles like international diplomacy, contributions to global climate change calls (Champions of the Earth by UN), peace, and enhancement of bilateral relations with Asian, African, European, and American countries. Many of these are the highest civil statuses conferred by the various countries.

This is a first for India and will serve as a tribute to his leadership in India's growing status on the international stage, experts say. Most of these have been awarded to the Indian people, who were referred to by PM Modi as “1.4 billion Indians.”
