One of the shocking stories has become a social media sensation when an assistant professor suggests another male medical student to a female medical student publicly during a classroom lecture at Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (SSMC) in T. Begur in Nelamangala (near Bengaluru).

The lecturer, whose name was Mohammed Abdul (or Abdul Mohammad/Abdul Rehman Sharif), was the lecturer who taught the lesson, gave out chocolates, and claimed to love one of the learners, who, in the process, had confessed her affection towards him. He heard someone saying that there was no way that he could resist the great love that was bestowed by the batch... I love you.” The student who is 19 years old vehemently opposed the allegation and insisted that he refer the issue to the principal.

Such tensions developed outside the classroom when the student supposedly struck him with her slipper, and other students took part in the incident, shouting and physically abusing the professor on campus. Videos of the fight have gone around the social media.

The professor has been suspended from the college. He has been registered against on sexual harassment with complaints of him reportedly behaving inappropriately previously. The matter is being investigated by police. Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara is the owner of the college.
