A viral CCTV video has sparked outrage after it showed Aishwarya, daughter of Tumakuru Rural BJP MLA B Suresh Gowda, allegedly slapping a woman police sub-inspector at a temple in Karnataka’s Mandya district.

The incident occurred on August 12, 2026, during Bhima Amavasya celebrations at the Aarti Ukkada (Arathi Ukkada) temple in Srirangapatna. PSI Savitha B Patil of Mandya Women’s Police Station was on crowd-control duty when Aishwarya reportedly sought entry into the sanctum sanctorum without waiting in the queue.

An argument escalated; footage shows Aishwarya slapping the officer, who appears to hit back before others intervene. The PSI filed a complaint alleging abuse, assault, obstruction of duty and threats. Police registered an FIR under relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections. Aishwarya filed a counter-complaint claiming the officer first abused her after allowing other personnel ahead.

MLA Suresh Gowda apologised, saying his daughter was frustrated after waiting with children and that the officer had also used abusive language. The case continues to draw attention to VIP privilege at places of worship.
