In a serious escalation, Sikh Union Ministers (SUP) affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that they will boycott the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann following a declaration of ‘anti-Guru’ (Guru Dokhi) and ‘anti-Panth’ (Khalsa Panth Virodhi) by Akal Takht. The judgment comes after a controversial video of Mann's disrespect for Sikh Gurus was released on social media that government labs checked to be real.

Punjab BJP Chief Keval Singh Dhillon announced today that in absence of an apology and compliance with the directives of the Akal Takht, Sikh ministers will not meet with Mann. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj had called upon the Sikh society to keep aside from the AAP leader from the social and religious point of view.

The charges were strongly denied by Mann, who labeled the video as false propaganda and said it was being used politically. The development has further stoked demands for his resignation and serious questions about governance in the province of Punjab, particularly following Akal Takht's summons of the Punjab cabinet on June 29. It is a serious political crisis where the authority of the religion collides with the leadership of the state before the next elections.
