Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram late on May 12, 2026, for a routine medical checkup and possible minor procedure. Doctors conducted tests to rule out stomach and urinary tract infections.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh confirmed that Gandhi is stable and has returned home after the check-up. Rahul Gandhi cancelled his scheduled visit to Kerala to be with his mother, expressing concern in a public rally.

This is Sonia Gandhi’s third hospitalization in 2026. She had been admitted earlier this year for respiratory issues and a systemic infection in March. The party has urged well-wishers not to speculate and said she is resting at home.
