Kolkata: Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has given a detailed description of how the BJP succeeded in destroying Mamata Banerjee-led TMC in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election.

In a recent communication, Adhikari indicated the BJP strategies centered on development, anti-incumbency, and robust management of the booth. He issued a controversial statement by saying, “Muslims openly voted for Didi (Mamata). There was no secret about it. But still, we won because the consolidation of the Hindu voter was tremendous, and people were fed up with the corrupt politics and appeasement politics of the TMC.

Adhikari attributed the historic victory to the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the welfare schemes, and the strong local leadership. He further alleged that mass defection and a mass backlash against TMC over their own family rule significantly contributed to the result.

His remarks have thrown a new bone of contention throughout the state as TMC leaders have labeled them as divisive when BJP supporters have applauded him whenever he spoke the so-called truth. The statements are delivered when political temperatures are still high, with Mamata still coming out to decline to resign as chief minister.
