On April 16, 2026, the high-profile TCS Nashik sexual harassment and forced conversion case took a new twist, with one of the key suspects, Shafi Shaikh, claiming he was beaten up by other inmates within Nashik Road Central Jail.
Shaikh claimed this in an in-camera court hearing where he and his co-accused, Raza Memon, were brought. He has now taken the protection of the police in the jail. The court transferred both accused to three days of police custody pending April 18 over several cases.
There are nine FIRs involving some TCS Nashik employees, such as sexual harassment, molestation, mental exploitation, and religious conversion efforts against female (and at least one male) employees. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating the case; some of the accused are already under arrest.
TCS has put on hold concerned employees and said it has zero tolerance in regard to harassment. The case has attracted a lot of coverage over allegations of rampant misconduct at the workplace in the BPO unit.
