On Monday, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran called the claims of sexual harassment and religious coercion that have come out of the TCS branch in Nashik a grave and painful issue. In an official statement, he said the incident is being treated with the utmost seriousness.
The accused employees have already been initiated upon action, and TCS has gone out of its way to assist the ongoing police investigations. An external investigation is in progress, headed by TCS Chief Operating Officer Aarthi Subramanian, to find out every fact and the culprits.
Chandrasekaran once more assured that the Tata Group has a zero-tolerance policy against any coercion and misconduct by its employees. He promised that this will be done by taking the correct and necessary action against people who are caught culpable and by providing corrective measures needed to help stop such a situation happening again.
These allegations include various complaints by women workers of the plant located in Nashik, and the police have opened several FIRs. The innovation has led to a rampant level of concern regarding safety in the workplace in the field of IT.
