This has been followed by a viral video in which US President Donald Trump dismisses roughly an Indian reporter who asked about Iran attacking two Indian ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The incident happened on Saturday in the Oval Office as Trump was wrapping up an event. The question was posed by a CBS News reporter, Olivia Rinaldi, after Indian-flagged ships such as a supertanker were reported to have been forced back by gunfire by Iranian gunboats. The ambassador of Iran has been called in by India because of the shooting incident.
Trump, who seemed angry, gestured to the journalist and told him to go, get out, ending any line of inquiry on the delicate maritime differences.
The episode is preceded by Iran asserting its control over the oil route, which was crucial, and it opposed the US naval blockade. Trump has threatened Iran with blackmail and affirmed that the blockade will continue until a deal gets done. The dramatic encounter has elicited a great deal of response on the web.
