Chirayu Rana is a worker of a large multinational bank, JPMorgan Chase, who has come to become a well-known figure in the news due to a lawsuit submitted against a female coworker over her sexual abuse of him. The case has elicited gender dynamics of corporate harassment.
Rana, who purportedly worked in the Mumbai or Indian arm of the company, said the incidences left him seriously mentally shaken. He is said to have taken evidence to the internal committees and authorities. It is reported that JPMorgan is inquiring about the issue according to the company policy.
These allegations by men employees against women employees are not quite common in India; thus, the Rana case is worth considering. It brings to light the necessity of gender-neutral policies and support systems with regard to harassment.
The bank itself has not given a statement in detail to the press, claiming secrecy. According to the legal professionals, Indian legal (POSH Act) addresses both sexes, with a tendency to concentrate on female victims. The results of the internal investigation are expected to be announced.
