Twisha Sharma, an erstwhile beauty queen (Miss Pune 2012), model, actor, and marketing professional from Noida, took her last breath at her marital home in Katara Hills of Bhopal on 12th May 2026. When she passed away at a few days old, her husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, son of retired judge Giribala Singh, was found on the streets hanging the woman's body five months later.

Her family has stated that she was unhappy and had communicated with them, saying that she felt trapped, alleging intense dowry harassment, mental harassment, and possibly murder. Her in-laws, on the other hand, say that it was a case of self-destruction due to her mental condition. This case has turned into a national story because of the murder post-mortems, injuries, CCTV footage from over the hours leading up to her death, and calls for justice.

The Supreme Court is now suo motu cognizant, and the CBI is in an investigation. This high-profile involvement of a highly educated woman, a working girl from a “love marriage," has caused a huge outrage and discussion over women's safety, marital abuse, and Indian justice. Her demise has still been front-page news and social media.
