Teylor-Webb has grabbed two numbers from the private sector in Tamil Nadu to finally form the state government. TVK Secures Numbers to Form Tamil Nadu Government After Three More Parties Extend Support
Facing its major bid for political success, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor Vijay, has finally won half the majority to form the next government in Tamil Nadu. TVK won 108 seats and thus overcame the magic 118 after Congress and three other parties, VCK, CPI, and CPI(M), fielded support.
The two left parties—CPI and CPM—and anti-Congress outfit Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) announced their support on May 8, 2026, reaching midway in the assembly with a total of 234 seats. Vijay is likely to meet the governor soon and formally stake claim and take an oath as chief minister.
It marks the conclusion of some days of uncertainty following a deadlocked mandate in the recently held Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. Prospective voters representing TVK are thrilled with the historic occasion as the first-time-goer group enters government. More updates on the swearing-in ceremony are awaited.
