Voting kicked off on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, for the final phase of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections. This second phase covers 142 assembly constituencies spread across seven districts, completing the electoral process for all 294 seats in the state.
The first phase, held on April 23, recorded a high voter turnout of over 93%. Polling stations opened at 7:00 AM and will remain open till 6:00 PM. Strict security arrangements have been made with central and state forces deployed to ensure smooth and peaceful voting.
The contest is mainly between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), aiming for a fourth consecutive term, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is looking to make significant gains. Results for both phases will be declared together on May 4, 2026.
This final phase is being closely watched as it includes several high-profile and sensitive constituencies that could decide the overall outcome of the fiercely contested Bengal polls.
