Omi Vaidya, known best as Chatur Ramalingam in the blockbuster film 3 Idiots, has extended his support for the Ladakh based Sonam Wangchuk, an activist. The real Phunsukh Wangdu, who is a member of the family and not friends of the characters in Aamir Khan's film, is at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, on indefinite hunger strike.

Vaidya plead to pay immediate due care and concern to Wangchuk and the government, explaining, “I don't want Phunsukh Wangdu to die.” The actor emphasized Wangchuk's long tenure in the education and the climate sector in the Himalayas.

With this quick pace, criticism from Wangchuk is seeping into the later stages, where he is calling for action on matters such as the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scandal, and other education reforms. But the activist has been losing weight and he has been weak, so supporters expressed great concern.

Vaidya's message is going viral, highlighting the need for dialogue and resolution before it's too late. A protest, governance and the voice of power for public figures have been revived with the development.
