Google has launched a new potent AI tool in the background dubbed Google AI Edge Eloquent, which is a free dictation app and is currently available on the Apple App Store. The application is fully offline, where speech recognition models are based on Gemma on-device, allowing users to dictate and receive polished text without being connected to the Internet.

There is live transcription displayed as you talk. After you stop, it automatically removes filler words (um, ah, self-corrections, etc.) and polishes the text to make it readable and professional. Differing styles can also be chosen by the user, such as Polishing, Key points, Formal, or Short.

The application is free of charge and does not impose any restrictions on usage. It provides high privacy as all processes are carried out on the device. iOS only (but will be launched on Android and macOS); it is currently available in English.

This roll out competes with other AI dictating apps, which makes quality speech-to-text available to all to use in meetings, notes, emails, etc.
