Government officials have verified that the violent demonstrations of factory workers in Noida on April 13, 2026, are linked to Pakistan in anger over their demands to raise their wages and working conditions. The Noida Police Commissioner said that the crowd was incited by two X (previously Twitter) handles that were in Pakistan and were being used to spread fake news, such as false allegations of people dying in police shootings.
It was operating on close to three months on VPN to organize the workers into WhatsApp groups. The unrest, which had begun with a clash in an Indian state, was fueled by anti-national forces, as claimed by UP Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar, who declared that it was a conspiracy that had been organized with contacts in Pakistan, with recent terror suspects being arrested in Meerut and Noida.
More than 40,000 laborers assembled in various sites, which resulted in arson, vandalism, and confrontations. Approximately 350-390 individuals have been arrested, several FIRs have been registered by the police, and the major conspirators have been detected. The investigation is into whether the outsiders and organized networks took over a legitimate wage protest. Some cases are still investigated under the provisions of NSA.
