It was a high drama in the Supreme Court in which petitioner-in-person Prabal Pratap disrupted the proceedings by verbally abusing the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, throwing the case papers and making frivolous and incoherent demands. The outburst was in the course of the hearing of a Special Leave Petition before a Bench of Justice K.V. Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe.

A man nicknamed “sovereign,” told police he was an Indian, but on Tuesday responded with profanities and hurled papers at the bench when he was questioned. Security guards quickly ushered him out of court. It is remarkable that the bench though deeply inoffensive, did not start contempt proceedings nor did it take any coercive action though there was a serious breach of decorum.

Justice Viswanathan remarked, "We only have sympathies for him", the petitioner seemed “very disturbed” in court. The court went on to dismiss the petition, believing it had no reason to disturb the Allahabad High Court's order. The incident has thrown the issue of security for court rooms and the way frustrated litigants are handled in court like the one with too many cases since they are in backlogs in the country.
