A maulvi (thus involving two horns) of a one-horned rhino at tourists' jeeps in Manas National Park, Assam, has become a main source of the viral moment. On May 17, 2026, during a routine safari trip in the jungle, situated in the Bansbari/Salbari range, the incident took place.
In the video, the rhino is seen moving up to the open-top jeep without any movement and then suddenly rushing forward. The animal repeatedly tries to knock over the jeep by thrusting its horn at it repeatedly. The tourists scream in fear as the mighty creature bears down on the car.
But the alert driver quickly got on the gas and got the Jeep to safety. The forest staff or tourists were not injured. One of the passengers did record the amazing scene, which, of course, has gone viral and has made the rounds of social media, attracting millions of views.
At the UNESCO World Heritage site at Manas National Park, renowned for its greater one-horned rhino, tiger, and various animal life, thousands of tourists flock to the park annually. Authorities have been reminding everyone to be mindful of keeping distance from animals and observing safari etiquette, particularly because the wet season could cause animals to become more aggressive.
It is a strong reminder of the raw power of wild animals and the importance of responsible wildlife tourism. The safaris are exhilarating but also require a cautious and respectful approach towards the natural habitat of these majestic animals.
