Very disturbing footage has leaked virally on social media, featuring a woman passenger talking to her Uber driver, who apparently admitted to killing his uncle.

In the video posted by Instagrammer @shy_innn, the driver simply states that he murdered his chacha with a spade (“fawde se”) when the uncle struck his father. He talks about his two years in jail, and amidst all this, he casually says, "phirse jail jaana hai" (have to go to jail again). The woman carries on this conversation with a sense of indifference, later on superimposing some text in which she confides that she was doing this so the Uber male bhaiya would not kill her.

The footage has shocked viewers, and many are terrified about the safety of ride-hailing and worried about background checks by cab companies. Netizens responded with shock, sarcasm, and concern, some of whom joked that she had become a key witness.

Uber was fast to react, stating that the incident was extremely worrying and the passenger should provide information through DM to help organize and investigate the situation as soon as possible and that the safety of their riders is the main priority. Authorities have not been able to independently determine the validity of the claims.

The accident has once again prompted worries about more stringent tests on drivers to guarantee the safety of their passengers.
