Ravi Tamta, a young innovator from Kaflikhan village near Jageshwar Dham in Almora, Uttarakhand, has successfully test-flown his self-made single-seater electric flying car. Named HAPIDA SKYNeX and developed under his startup Hapida Sky Private Limited, the prototype uses upgraded drone technology and runs fully on electricity with zero emissions.

The test flight took place on an open ground in Almora, with videos going viral on social media. Tamta says a typical 40-km road journey in the hills, which currently takes around 90 minutes due to winding terrain, could be completed in just 10 to 15 minutes by air. He describes the project as “desi jugaad” aimed at solving real connectivity problems in mountainous regions.

While still a prototype requiring further testing and regulatory approvals, the achievement has drawn praise, including from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Tamta hopes it marks a step toward affordable personal air mobility in India.
